Interview with Chompy at 27 months…

So, as many of you know I am now addicted to Pinterest.  For those of you who don’t know what this is, it is a social media site where you can “pin” things that you love for yourself and others to see.   For example,  I have a pin board full of DIY projects, another for yummy recipes etc.   Well, one of the things that I found was a bunch of people who had done interviews with their kids at different ages so that they could all look back and remember who that child was at each age.

So, today, I decided to interview Chompy.    Remember, these are his answers.   Winking smile

Momma’s hero!

A red dragonfly lands on his plastic pool.  He screams.  "Bad bug.  Momma.  Pool!".  Desperate to get the offender away, he reels Momma into chasing it in circles around the yard as it lights on weeds and hedges, hides in trees and empty gardens.   Finally it flies over the fence, and he exclaims "ALL GONE BAD BUG DRAGONFLY!"    and cheers "Me did it Momma!".   Maybe next time his momma will let him know how cool, delicate, and precious a red dragonfly is, but today, she’ll let it be the enemy!

Chompy now gets beyond excited about his daddy’s backpack.  Daddy’s backpack has been the home to Chompy’s special books and toys for safe keeping while Chompy goes to school.  Since we have a couple of camping trips planned, and Chompy has his own toys that he wants to carry with him, Daddy decided that Chompy needs a backpack of his very own.

Thank you REI for again bringing this family such joy Winking smile

I’ve never seen someone besides his Daddy get so excited about getting a new backpack Smile Like Daddy, like Chompy!!

(an aside, look how much bigger he is than the picture behind him).

Yo ho!

Chompy lately has been pretty obsessed with Pirates.

So, during his nap today, Momma made him a pirate vest with a pattern from MADE and some fabric that she had in her stash.

I’m 2….

At 2 I like 2:

Sneak up on people and scare them

Play hide-and-seek

Color, paint, and create with play-do

Sing songs

Play puzzles and Legos

Read stories

Talk, talk, talk

Help in the garden

Pick out my clothes

Brush my teeth

Visit my family and friends

I don’t get upset very often, and when I do, I get over it pretty quickly.

We love you Chompy boy and can’t believe you’ve been with us for TWO years!  We are soooooo lucky to be your parents!

22 months….

It appears that I slacked off with blogging in the last month. Oops!

Chompy turns 22 months today!  Here’s what he has been up to in the last two months:

talking, talking, talking

kicking and throwing balls

building tall buildings with his blocks

LOVING his puzzles

helping Momma run lots of miles with B.O.B. for her big races

eating, eating, eating (we expect a growth spurt sometime soon)

dancing to the music

reading stories

eating with a spoon and fork

playing with his family

pointing out babies everywhere

racing from one corner of the yard to the other

chasing everyone with his bubble blower

being a happy, mostly even-tempered little guy

learning that stomping his feet will not get him what he wants Winking smile

wearing the dino shirt that Momma made him.

Trying on Dadda’s shoes.

I’m going to get you.

Checking out the new “big boy” backpack for our warm weather adventures.

20 months....

Picking dandelions in the backyard.

Yep, that's right, Chompy boy is now 20 months old. Every bit of a toddler.

He was pretty happy today because he was a lucky boy and got two presents from Craigslist: this car, and this lawn mower. Props to Miss Sarah for making sure Momma got the listing (I'd been looking for a lawn mower for awhile. The car was a bonus.)

What Chompy loves as he turns 20 months:

Talking (he says 80 words and learns more every day).
Building with his Duplos
Taking baths so that he can play with his bath toys with Daddy.
Playing with his cars.
Being outside to see the animals.
Pointing out babies and saying hi and bye to them.
He also says bye to every car leaving a parking lot when we are's so funny.
Reading all the stories in his bookcase at once...and then reading them again.
Riding in his bike trailer. He now says "wheeee" any time he gets in it.

He is working on getting his incisors (and they apparently hurt)

He has learned to give a real kiss as in making the lip smacking noise instead of just get you with an open mouth or head bump.

His Uncle Matt taught him to "pound it" with fist bumps, and he now does it multiple times a day.

He has to know where all of his family and friends are at all times, so every hour or so, we go through where everyone is....i.e. Dada? He's at work. Momma? She's home with Chompy. Olivia? She's home with her mommy (we always say that Olivia is doing whatever Chompy is doing or whatever we want Chompy to be doing ;)

He finally is branching out on his solid foods. It's so funny that he'd eat whatever we gave him when he was a baby eating the pureed food I'd make him, and then refused anything when it came to solids. Now, he's finally eating the solid version of what he used to love pureed like blueberries.

He is very helpful. He'll put things in the trash, help clean up his toys, help with the laundry and dishes, pick up leaves and sticks. It's so nice :)

He still loves going riding in BOB. We have to say "do you want to go for a ride in BOB?" now because if we say "do you want to go running?" He'll start running.

He cracks himself up and thinks he's so funny. Most of the time, he is.

First Haircut…

Chompy got his first haircut this morning.  As much as I hated to do it, his curls were out of control and turning into dreadlocks.  So off we went…he did great!

Talking, talking, talking

Having 12 teeth in and a few more are a comin’.

Helping Momma around the house and Daddy with the outside chores

Eating at his table instead of his high chair

and…playing in the snow!
